Week 14 - Discerning What Is True
In a world filled with spiritual voices and religious claims, Christians must develop discernment to distinguish authentic truth from counterfeits. 1 John 4:1-6 provides three essential tests for evaluating spiritual teaching: examine those claiming spiritual authority, test what they teach about Jesus Christ, and determine whether their message leads toward or away from Christ. False teachers often use appealing spiritual language and present themselves as credible authorities, making them difficult to identify. The ultimate test of any spiritual teaching is what it says about Jesus as fully divine and fully human, the sole source of eternal life. We must commit to Scripture as our standard for truth rather than relying on experiences or emotions, growing in discernment through consistent study of God's Word.
