Having an "Imitate Those Who Follow Jesus" Mindset
In Philippians 3:17, Paul instructs us to look for those who walk accordingly in Christ. The word "example" that Paul uses in this verse refers to a blueprint to follow in constructing a life worth living. Who do you look up to that models a life after God?
Paul was broken for the unsaved when he was writing to the church of Philippi. If we imitate those who walk accordingly, those people are willing to give their life for the gospel. Paul is in prison writing this passage because of his passion for the lost and not forsaking the gospel.
Imitating those who follow Jesus also means rejecting worldly things. Do you look for fulfillment in worldly things or do you look for fulfillment in Christ?
We do not belong separated from God. Our citizenship is in heaven, because that is where we ultimately belong. Who will ultimately get us to heaven? Only Jesus can. Pastor Randall closes by reminding us that we are ambassadors of Christ. That means we should be living out the gospel and imitating those who follow Jesus.
