Week 5 - Live Faithful In Word & Deed

Jul 27, 2025    Jack Faughn

Jesus addressed the church in Pergamum, a city filled with pagan worship and emperor cult practices, calling it 'Satan's throne.' He commended believers for holding fast to their faith despite persecution and the martyrdom of their leader Antipas. However, Jesus rebuked them for tolerating those who followed the teachings of Balaam and the Nicolaitans, which promoted compromise with idolatry and sexual immorality. This message challenges modern Christians to maintain holiness in a culture that normalizes sin, to recognize false teaching, and to remember that our bodies belong to God. Jesus promised 'hidden manna' and 'a white stone with a new name' to those who overcome.
