Week 1 - Missing Jesus In The Scriptures

It's possible to know Scripture thoroughly yet completely miss Jesus. Two disciples on the road to Emmaus had all the facts about Jesus but wrong expectations that blinded them to God's work. Their assumptions about what the Messiah should do prevented them from recognizing Him even when He walked beside them. Jesus confronted their misunderstanding by showing how all Scripture pointed to Him and His necessary suffering. When they finally recognized Jesus, they immediately responded with urgency and witness. True encounters with Christ produce movement, not just knowledge.
